1. Safety
Cantex is a “COR” Certified Company through the voluntary occupational health and safety certificate of recognition program provided by WorkSafe BC. We maintain a comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety Program that goes beyond the current legal requirements and ensures compliance with both the “Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia” and WorkSafe BC regulations. Cantex is committed to the continuous improvement of the health and safety program and works in collaboration with employee representatives, joint occupational health and safety committee (JOHSC) members and external third-party auditors to ensure a healthy and safe working environment

2. Environment
Cantex values sustainability and the environment. Our Environmental Policy outlines our commitment as an organization in protecting the environment and human health. This policy and associated procedure provide guidance to identify any existing or potential risks or impacts that our activities have on the environment and expectations for prevention and remediation. We plan and execute all our operations within the guidelines of all applicable acts and regulations and maintain a self-monitoring program to ensure compliance. Cantex employees receive instruction as part of their new employee orientation on our environmental protection expectations. Cantex maintains and reviews environmental records to review and evaluate in conjunction with our environmental policies and procedure to identify any future improvement opportunities.

Cantex takes pride in what we do. Doing it “Right the first Time” is beneficial to all aspects of the project, it helps us ensure the client receives the value in which they are paying for. Cantex does not have to re-do work and it helps keep the project on schedule. We ensure that specifications are adhered to on all projects by employing qualified personnel to monitor, test and record all required aspects of the undertaken work. We, at Cantex, take the extra effort in our commitment to providing customers with a high-quality end-product. No detail is too small for our work force and staff.

4. Personnel
At Cantex, we value all our employees and believe that retention is important to building a quality company and providing quality services. While construction tends to be seasonal, we endeavor to keep our employees working when possible. As we tend to favour longer-term projects, our turnover is lower than most in the construction industry. We view safety first and provide ongoing specific training to our employees in their area of work. All of our supervisors are trained with a minimum of one of the following, WorkSafe Supervising for safety, Mine Supervisor, Mine Shift Boss and/or leadership for safety excellence.

5. Training
We complete on-site training/ competency checks on our employees, which includes review and sign offs for each piece of equipment they may operate. We have also sponsored (through providing equipment) school-based training courses as follows:
• Thompson River University (TRU)
o Red Seal Program, 8 weeks in duration
o Operator training to First Nation members from various bands which included 16 attendees who all successfully completed the course.
• Heavy Metal Rocks Community Program
o 1-week program, annually
o Equipment and fuel donated for operator training programs

6. Equipment Maintenance and Renewal
Cantex is recognized in the industry for our modern and well-maintained fleet of construction equipment. Our Planned Component Replacement (PCR) program, aided by a computer database of historical information, provides us with optimum equipment utilization, minimal down time, and aids in project schedule completion on time and on budget. Cantex employs a comprehensive Equipment Maintenance System which specifies maintenance intervals for all critical equipment systems. Our equipment is made up almost exclusively of late-model Caterpillar equipment which is maintained per the manufacturer’s recommendations. All regular maintenance is completed by our in-house certified mechanical staff, combined with mobile heavy-duty service vehicles in our extensive vehicle fleet.

Cantex Mining Services is owned by K'en T'em Limited Partnership which is the for-profit subsidiary of the not-for profit Citxw Nlaka’pamux Assembly. The Citxw Nlaka'pamux Assembly is an organization comprised of eight of the fifteen nÅ‚eÊ”képmx bands, which are: Ashcroft, Boston Bar, Coldwater, Cook's Ferry, Nicomen, Nooaitch, Siska, Shackan The acquisition of Cantex Mining Services strengthens the economic foundation and establishes a lasting legacy of progress and direct control in the advancement of the nÅ‚eÊ”képmx people. Cantex Mining Services proven track record in the mining sector will provide enhance capabilities and support for the Citxw Nlaka'pamux Assembly’s collective goals, including community development, job creation, and resource management.
